Hot and Humid temperature in summer wreaks havoc on oily-haired people, because the heat makes us sweat more, and our body produces more sebum, too. As a result, our hair gets oily too quickly.

 With summer just in, your hair and scalp seem to face their own unique set of problems, topmost among them is an oily hair and scalp. It is nothing to worry about it is simply the natural oil-sebum that protects and nourishes your hair seeping out.

          However, an abnormally oily scalp may be a concern. It makes your hair feel sweaty, greasy, and dirty all the time, no matter how much you wash it. Excessive oiliness on the scalp can often cause excessive itching and redness.

 Thrice a week is good enough. Even if you perspire, just pour plain cold water on the hair. If your hair suffers from problem of excessive sweating and If you tend to sweat more on the scalp, and if your hair gets greasy and sweaty easily, go for a mild shampoo that is especially good for summers and it will not harm hair.

Shampoo only on the scalp, not the hair, and as you wash your hair, the suds will rinse down, cleaning up your hair too. Putting shampoo separately on your hair and hair tips will dry them out. Note-stay away from hot water and keep the oil production in control.

Not many know this, but dry shampoo is not meant to be used when your hair is already very greasy. It can’t remove excessive oil the way a wash can, because there’s no way to rinse out the excess build-up.

Hence, you should use a dry shampoo a day after shampooing, when you know your hair is about to get greasy (before exercising, for example). This helps maintain volume and soaks up any oil that’s about to be released.

Conditioner needs to be applied where the hair is dry and damaged. If your hair is damaged at the roots, but your scalp is oily, then apply your conditioner on the ends, and pat on the residual remnants of the products on your fingers on the hair at most. While you may be doing all of the above to protect your hair from oily scalp if you are not drinking enough water, you are not going to achieve anything.
